Kevin's Story
Kevin’s career in the HVAC industry led him to Ambridge Hospitality. Ambridge is a full-service firm offering hotel and owner services ranging from accounting & finance to marketing, project & business development to operations for organizations including Marriott, Embassy Suites, Hyatt, Hilton, Wyndham, Westin and even The Queen Mary. Kevin worked as a mechanical engineer, helping to keep HVAC systems in hotels and restaurants around Midway Airport in Chicago running in peak condition.
In November 2022, Kevin had a fall that led to seizure and a massive hematoma!
The fall resulted in a traumatic brain injury which paralyzed Kevin on his right side. While at rehab at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago, Kevin learned about our foundation. Kevin requested a bath remodel because they only had a tub shower combo. His family was focused on wheelchair accessible transportation and ramps/door widening into the house, but they could not also handle a bath remodel. “I am a younger man whose life was turned around in a second,” Kevin said. “My life goals were changed before my eyes. I worked so hard for years at my career and now I am helpless. I am wheelchair-bound and not in a handicapped accessible home. Any home improvement help you could provide would be dramatic for my family.”
When the work was completed, Kevin told us, “Thank you so much, we appreciate what you have done more than we can say.”
