Leslie Foster was a project manager for Aspen Square Property Management in
Suffield, Connecticut for the past 20 years. Experienced in most aspects of
maintenance and construction, Leslie’s work specialty was in HVAC. He is
universally certified and is a proctor for ESCO, the industry’s largest provider of
EPA section 608 certification testing. He and his fiancée had recently purchased the
home they planned to live in after getting married.
Forty-four days after moving in, Leslie broke his neck diving into the family pool!
As a result of the August 6, 2017 injury, Leslie is now a C4 complete quadriplegic.
“I have been unable to work since the accident and have always been a hands-on
guy,” Leslie said, “so this level of injury has been especially difficult for me.”
Fundraisers as well as personal funds helped Leslie and Amy obtain a wheelchair
accessible van and complete a bathroom remodel. Leslie frequently has to travel to
Boston, about 100 miles away, to see various specialists. Oftentimes they have to
stay in a hotel and it is extremely difficult for his wife and caregiver to transfer him
from the chair to the hotel bed and vice versa. Based on that, Leslie and his wife
requested that the foundation provide a Hoyer Lift.
Thanks to our donors generosity, the foundation was able to help Leslie and Amy!
Following receipt of the lift, Amy wrote “I can’t believe how quickly you got
everything approved and ordered. We cannot thank you enough!”
