David Hartzheim with his new glasses
David Hartzheim of Dayton, Washington spent his career as a journeyman construction employee of a Los Angeles construction firm. He worked 40-60 hours a week doing sheet rocking, taping, and bedding walls and ceilings of new residential homes throughout Orange County. Prior to 2007 he began to experience symptoms like those of Parkinson’s, but he kept on working through it. Finally, he could no longer ignore the symptoms that prevented him from working.
He was permanently medically disabled with Parkinson’s in 2007!
In 2008, his wife could no longer work after undergoing brain surgery, leaving her with vascular dementia. They are now living on Social Security, and the savings they were able to put together during their working years. David’s symptoms continued to worsen until he was restricted to a wheelchair. As the disease progressed, it began causing problems with his eyesight. He had excessively dry eyes and developed double vision. It became almost impossible to read and live a normal life. David requested funds for a procedure to deal with his excessive dry eyes, as well as progressive, custom prism lenses and frame that will overcome the double vision problem.
Your generosity has enabled David to be able to read again!
After David had the procedure and received his glasses, he told us “Thank you so much for what you have done! I can see much better in general and I can even read the words on my computer screen! Thank you so much for your kind generosity.”
