Ismael’s Story

Ismael worked as a civil carpenter at two different refineries at Port Lavaca and Sweeney, Texas southwest of Houston. He also worked for a contractor on the border wall project near Hidalgo.

On October 1, 2020, an accident rendered Ismael C4-7 quadriplegic!

Since his accident, Ismael has had to either bathe in bed or be showered outside with a hose. He came across our website while researching for other accessories for disabled persons. His father works for a homebuilder, and they built the shower for Ismael.

Ismael was extremely grateful for his new shower. “My situation is unique because I haven’t had a proper bath in over four years,” he said. “This will allow me to have more dignity, and I also believe it will boost my confidence and motivate me to go out more and hang out with people.”

Thank you to all our donors for making such a big difference for Ismael!

The Joseph S. Groh Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support and guidance to people with a connection to the plumbing, electrical, roofing, construction, or HVAC industries who are living with life-altering disabilities.
